Effects of plastic on the environment
Through the influence of the media and also political measures, society has been told that plastic packaging is bad per se and that alternatives such as paper and glass have considerable advantages in protecting the environment. This information, which is often communicated in a questionable manner, should be viewed critically and examined with caution. However, due to "greenwashing" activities, as well as the lobbying of many industries, there is a great deal of confusion about what really makes packaging more "environmentally friendly".
